**Licence not verified:** Maxim88 does not currently publish a licence; a new licence is reported to be in application, as of 30 September 2026. Until it is verified, AsianBookie does not recommend this site.
Maxim88 is one of the best-known online casino brands in Malaysia, and one of the most searched. It covers live casino, slots, fishing games, a sportsbook, esports and 4D, all in ringgit. It stands out for two things: an exclusive branded baccarat table with Evolution, and a high-profile brand ambassador, former England striker and Ballon d'Or winner Michael Owen, who signed with Maxim88 in August 2022.
For this Maxim88 review, we checked its licence status, compared its bonus terms, looked at payment and withdrawal times, and reviewed the Maxim88 app and login process. The product is strong, especially for live casino players. The main issue is licensing: Maxim88 does not currently publish a licence, and its support team told one reviewer that it had removed its old certificate and was applying for a new one.

Independent sources describe the situation differently:
Malaysia Betting Sites reports that Maxim88's support confirmed the old licence certificate had been removed and a new licence was "in the application stage", with no regulator or timeframe given.
SafeGamingSites lists Curaçao and PAGCOR among Maxim88's claimed credentials but marks its licence status as "Not Verified", and advises players to check any Curaçao claim on the regulator's certificate portal.
PAGCOR no longer licenses offshore sites serving foreign players, since the Philippines banned offshore gaming operators from 31 December 2024. Until Maxim88 publishes a licence number and company you can check, we treat it as unlicensed. That means there is no regulator to complain to if a withdrawal is refused.

Maxim88 is not a fly-by-night brand. It signed Michael Owen as brand ambassador for the 2022/23 Premier League season to promote its Asian marketing, and it has an exclusive branded baccarat table with Evolution, one of the world's largest live casino studios. SafeGamingSites dates the brand to 2006, though we could not confirm this. Those are signs of a real, established business, but they are not a substitute for a licence.

No online casino or bookmaker holds a Malaysian licence. Gambling is governed by the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and the Betting Act 1953, which license only land-based operators, lotteries and Genting. In October 2023 the Court of Appeal ruled that online gambling is an offence under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, and the authorities regularly block offshore gambling domains. Muslims are barred from gambling under Syariah law. Domain blocking is one reason Maxim88 appears on several web addresses, and many sites use the Maxim88 name.

The crypto bonus at 1x turnover and the 12x daily reload are the most player-friendly offers. Note that Maxim88 calculates welcome bonus turnover on your deposit plus the bonus, which makes 18x and 28x harder to clear than they look. Promotions change often, so check the terms first.
The 100% welcome bonus up to RM500 for sports and esports has an 18x wagering requirement and needs a minimum deposit of RM50, while the slots deposit bonus needs RM100.
Withdrawals take from 24 hours up to 3 business days depending on the method, with crypto the quickest. Visa and Mastercard are not accepted. The minimum deposit is RM50 for the sports bonus and RM100 for the slots bonus. Verify your account before your first withdrawal to avoid delays.

Maxim88 has six VIP tiers, from Normal up to Crockford. Entry to the first paid tier (Classic) reportedly starts at RM50,000 in monthly deposits, which puts the VIP programme out of reach for most casual players. Higher tiers unlock bigger rewards; ask live chat for the current benefits of each level.

Maxim88's criteria add up to 77 out of 100, but because its licence is not verified the score is capped at 70, and AsianBookie does not recommend it. For Malaysian live casino players, it is one of the most complete sites: an exclusive Evolution baccarat table, SA Gaming and other Asian studios, slots from Pragmatic Play, Jili and Spadegaming, and five sportsbook and esports engines including CMD368 and SABA. Payments cover Touch 'n Go, DuitNow and crypto, support runs around the clock by chat, phone and WhatsApp, and the Michael Owen ambassadorship shows a brand with real marketing scale.
It loses points on licensing. Maxim88 does not currently publish a licence or operator, and its support has said a new licence is still in the application stage. Welcome bonus turnover is calculated on deposit plus bonus, and the VIP programme needs very high deposits. If you still choose Maxim88, it fits Malaysian players who want strong live casino and local payments. Choose the 1x crypto bonus or the 12x reloads, verify early, keep balances modest and only log in from the official site or app. For operators with a verifiable licence, compare it with our online casino Malaysia guide.
