Editorial Guidelines: How We Write, Rate and Moderate at AsianBookie
- Readers come first. Every page is written for the person deciding whether to open an account, not for the operator paying for the banner.
- Money doesn’t buy a verdict. We carry advertising and affiliate partnerships. Neither one moves a rating, a ranking or a sentence.
- Show your working. Every claim should be checkable: a licence number, a timed withdrawal, a term in the T&Cs.
- Errors get corrected in public, with a date. We don’t quietly edit and hope nobody notices.
- Members’ posts stay members’ posts. Forum content is labelled as community content, never as our editorial voice.
- AI helps, people publish. No rating, verdict or tip goes live without a named human signing it off.
Our mission
AsianBookie has covered Asian football and the betting around it since 1998. We run a bookmaker directory, an odds comparison tool, a tips section, live scores and a forum where members compare notes on all of it.
The mission is simple: help people follow the game and make better-informed decisions. In practice, that means telling readers who pays out, who is slow, and who buries a bad term in the fine print, then publishing the method behind every rating so anyone can challenge it.
We are not bookmakers. We don’t take deposits, hold funds or settle bets. Nobody here is rating their own product.
Who these guidelines apply to, and what they cover
Our editorial standards bind everyone who puts words, numbers or images on this site: staff writers, editors, analysts, contributors, translators and forum moderators.
They cover:
- bookmaker reviews, ratings and “best of” lists
- odds comparison tables and margin data
- previews, tips and analysis
- news, features and explainers
- sponsored and partner content, which carries a label
- forum rules and moderation decisions
They don’t cover advertising creative supplied by a partner. The advertiser makes that, and it’s labelled as advertising.
Our editorial code
Six commitments. Hold us to them.
- We give impartial advice. We recommend what we’d use ourselves, based on testing, not on what pays. A bookmaker’s ad spend has no bearing on whether it appears in a list, or where.
- We get the facts right. Licence numbers are checked against the regulator’s own register. Payout times are timed, not estimated. Bonus terms are read to the last line before we repeat them.
- We write clearly. Plain English, short sentences, no jargon where an ordinary word works. If a term is technical, we explain it in the same paragraph.
- We disclose our sources. When we rely on an operator’s statement, a regulator’s filing or a member’s forum report, we say so. Borrowed facts get a credit and a link.
- We review and correct errors. Tell us we’re wrong and we check. If you’re right, we fix the text or the score and publish a dated correction note.
- We keep editorial independence, even though we take money. AsianBookie carries advertising and affiliate partnerships with bookmakers we write about. That money funds the site and stops there. Our commercial team has no vote on a rating and no sight of a draft. Affiliate links are explained in our affiliate disclosure. When a paying partner tests badly, it gets a bad score and the review says why.
How we handle AI and automation in content production
We use AI tools, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Where they help:
- formatting odds tables and checking arithmetic
- spellcheck, grammar and headline variants
- summarising long regulator documents for a first read
Where they don’t:
- Ratings, verdicts and recommendations. Human, always. No score is generated, adjusted or approved by a model.
- Tips and analysis. Written by a named person who will defend the pick.
- Responsible gambling content. Never drafted by a tool without an editor reviewing every line. Support routes and helpline details are checked by hand, because a wrong number on that page is worse than no number.
Every fact on a page is verified by a person before publishing. AI never carries a byline, and we don’t publish machine-generated reviews.
User-generated content and the forum
Our forum is a members’ space. It’s where a lot of the sharpest information on this site comes from, which is why we treat it carefully.
What we moderate: spam and affiliate spam, scams and stolen accounts, abuse and harassment, and illegal or explicit content.
What we don’t: arguments about form, strong opinions about a manager, and members disagreeing with us. Nobody’s post is removed for criticising AsianBookie.
How reports work: members flag a post with the in-thread button. A moderator reviews it and acts.
The line between forum and editorial. Member posts stay labelled as member content. When a forum report, such as a stalled payout or a changed term, feeds into a review or an article, we verify it independently first. We don’t republish unverified accusations as fact.
How to report an error or raise a concern
Spotted a mistake? Post it in our Suggestions & Help forum. Include the page link, what is wrong, and any source you have. If you are right, we fix it and date the correction.
If your concern is about advertising, sponsorship or a partner, say so. Commercial queries go to the commercial team, and that team never reaches into a rating.
The rest of our standards are public: the rating methodology behind every score, the affiliate disclosure covering how we’re paid, and the responsible gambling page with limits, time-outs and support lines.
