The 25-year-old Mexican striker Santiago Giménez has officially joined Portuguese giants FC Porto on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. Giménez joined AC Milan from Feyenoord in January 2025, but has not impressed in his time with the Rossoneri, scoring just seven goals in 37 total appearances.
Gimenez expressed his enthusiasm for joining FC Porto, stating that he is drawn to the team's spirit and commitment to playing with passion. He also noted that his former teammates at FC Porto described the team as a family, where players are encouraged to give their all on the pitch.
At Porto, Gimenez will compete with Turkish striker Deniz Gul and fellow former Milan striker Andre Silva, who returned to Porto after a 10-year absence. Gimenez is determined to give his life for FC Porto and take advantage of the opportunity he has been given.
Gimenez's time at Feyenoord was highly successful, where he scored 65 goals in 105 appearances and became a fan favorite. He will return to Rotterdam later this season, as FC Porto has drawn Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League.
Gimenez has a strong connection to Feyenoord, where he improved as a player and as a person. He became the Mexican all-time top scorer in the Netherlands, overtaking Hirving Lozano's previous record of 44 goals.
Gimenez has represented Mexico as an international on 51 occasions, including the 2026 World Cup, where he played four matches but did not score.
