Mourinho Explains Trent's Uncertain Future at Real Madrid

Mourinho's decision to start Trent in the LaLiga match against Racing Santander was a result of an injury to Federico Valverde, but it appears Trent's place in the team is not guaranteed.

Mourinho expressed his faith in both Trent and Dumfries, but feels that Valverde is a better fit for the role, which he believes is necessary for the team's success.

In a statement, Mourinho explained that he prefers to have players feel good about their roles, but sometimes the team's needs take precedence.

"It hurts me to give players bad feelings, but there are things more important than these feelings. When you build a squad with two players per position, and end up playing a third, it's not something I like," Mourinho said.

"But there are things that matter more for the team at a given moment. I feel we needed to change our midfield and play Fede in that position. It was a decision made for the team, not based on individual players," he added.
