Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand believes his old club should have signed Arsenal's Ezri Konsa.
Konsa, 28, had established himself as a reliable defender for Aston Villa, capable of playing at centre-back or right-back under manager Unai Emery.
Manchester United had been linked with Konsa as they looked to strengthen their defence, but the club never made a move for him, despite their defensive struggles.
After conceding 15 goals in nine games, Ferdinand spoke about how United should have signed Konsa on his YouTube channel.
Ferdinand praised Konsa's abilities, saying, "Everything he does is efficient. That's a great problem for Mikel Arteta to have."
He also noted that Konsa may have been tempted to reject a switch to Arsenal, saying, "I wouldn't be surprised if Konsa goes back to right-back once Saliba comes back."
Ferdinand expressed his admiration for Konsa, stating, "He's a top, top player and another one I thought Manchester United should have got because he's a top player."
Konsa has become a regular in Mikel Arteta's defence, helping Arsenal maintain an impressive run of results as they chase down the league title.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are struggling to stay above the relegation zone.
