Crystal Palace Striker Jean-Philippe Mateta Receives Three-Match Ban

Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta will serve a three-match ban after his red card appeal was rejected by the Football Association.

Mateta was initially given a yellow card by referee Michael Oliver during a Premier League match against Tottenham on Saturday, but it was upgraded to a red card after a video assistant referee review.

As a result, Mateta will miss Palace's upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool at home, as well as their league fixtures against Coventry and Hull later this month.

The Football Association stated that an independent regulatory commission had dismissed Mateta's claims of wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment.
